If you use Wordpress there is a plugin called “No Ping Wait” which separates the blog posting from the pinging. Here is a link:

Not that I know of. Many times after publishing the browser will “time out”. Not a big deal, you just hit your back button. The post is made, it just takes a while for Word Press to hit all the sites in your list. If you look at your log you will find that many times even in a small ping list you inevitably have some servers that don’t get pinged.

Concerned… are there any downsides to incorporating such a big list (ie. spam, banning, blacklisting)? Are there any pings that won’t work b/c you are not a “member” blog first?
