Have you begun a video marketing campaign to promote your business? If not, you are missing the chance to connect with a large segment of the population. Keep reading to gain some terrific insight about the profit-building potential of video marketing.

YouTube has excellent editing features. You can even add annotations on videos. This provides the perfect means to share links, add extra information or perhaps provide a coupon code.

Video Camera

Great content is the surest way to get more people to view your video. It is not necessary to own a expensive video camera to make a video. If your video offers people information that is valuable, they will watch it even if it is not of the highest quality. But if you can, purchase a quality video camera as well as professional editing software.

Avoid thinking your customers will watch videos longer than 20 minutes. You may need all of that time if you are showing your audience how a certain product works. On the other hand, a video focusing on general descriptions or advertisements should take no longer than 10 minutes.

TIP! As with most things, the more experience you gain in creating videos, the better your end results will be. You should regularly make videos so that people come to expect something new from you when they are on your site.

As you create and edit your marketing videos, pace yourself and do not focus exclusively on minor production details. There is more to a video than production value. Even big companies, such as Dell, have struck gold using simple demos produced by individual employees.

You shouldn’t neglect YouTube. This is where your video marketing campaign should begin. You get free video hosting. In addition, your videos will be on third most-visited website out there. It is one of the best search engines as far as volume, and it’s also the best video site as well.

If your videos are about a product you sell, make sure to include a link in the video description. It is a good idea if it is within the actual video player. Doing it this way will keep the link with the video just in case someone shares or embeds it.

TIP! When using YouTube for posting your videos, ensure you are utilizing the editing features that the site provides. It is possible to add your own annotations.

The content you use needs to be interesting. As you create a video, make certain that it is relevant, timely and engaging. Millions of people visit YouTube every day, but people won’t watch your video if it doesn’t interest them. A lot of people want to watch videos that are relevant. The more interesting your content, the more viewers you are going to get.

You should end your videos by asking your audience to take action. Frequently, this sort of approach is labeled as a “call to action”. When writing the description for a video clip, include a link that will allow viewers to subscribe to your email newsletter or mailing list. However, in order to make this work, it’s vital that you make this process simple.

Social Media

TIP! Try to stay on topic and keep focused with each video. It is very easy to veer off topic.

Video marketing can be used to promote websites and social networking sites. This lets anyone who sees your video know about all the online properties you run. By promoting your other social media and websites, you can help bring in additional customers. Linking your video and your social media sites will boost your sales.

When you know how your video was received, get onto video 2! Analyze your results and use them to create an even more effective video the next time. Make adjustments to the content, polish dialogue and upgrade equipment if possible. Each version will be better than the one before it!

You need to know for sure whether or not your video is reaping the results you want. It’s possible to guess how other perceive the video, but you need more. You need the tracked statistics in order to know if you’re getting where you’re supposed to. Review the number of viewers for each video, how many viewed the entire thing, and other relevant figures.

TIP! The content you use needs to be interesting. Business videos can be interesting, fun, or newsworthy.

In conclusion, using videos for business promotion is crucial today. Traditional forms of marketing are no longer quite as profitable. You should focus on Internet marketing instead, including video marketing. Use these tips to attract prospective customers to your products and services.

A one year follow up on a study of social media adoption at 500 of the fastest growing companies in the US has found that familiarity with and use of blogs, podcasting, wikis, online video and social networking has skyrocketed in 2008 to nearly double what it was in 2007. 77% of respondents now report at least some use of a social media tool in their business. The University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Center for Marketing Research performed the study for Inc. Magazine and their findings confirm what previous studies have argued as well: social media use is now a major, mainstream activity.

The Findings

The study was written up on Robin Good’s excellent blog Master New Media.

According to the study’s authors, “26% of respondents in 2007 felt that social media is “very important” to their business and marketing strategy. That figure rose to 44% in approximately one year. It is clear that this group of fast-growing companies considers the use of social media as a central part of its strategic plan.”

Social networking is the most familiar of the technologies. In 2007, wikis were the least familiar but they have since leapfrogged over podcasting.

It’s notable that the study’s authors found much more extensive use and growth in use in the fastest growing 500 US companies than they found in the Fortune 500, the largest companies. It would be a logical fallacy to argue that the fastest growing companies are growing fastest because of their use of social media, but it could be a factor. It could also be the case that insurgent companies have a greater incentive and proclivity to experiment than incumbent industry leaders.

Three interesting charts from the study can be found below, followed by links to related studies and a few thoughts.

Related recent studies include Universal McCann’s findings that half of adults in the US now use some form of social media online and the April prediction from Forrester Research that “Enterprise 2.0” will become a $4.6 billion industry over the next 5 years.

What does this mean? It means that when you tell people you write, read or listen to blogs, wikis, podcasts, social networks and online video – if they give you a funny look, it is now officially them that’s a freak, not you. Are these tools really as useful as so many people appear to believe they are? That’s another question, but at least we’re getting a healthy number of people and businesses trying them out.

Another relevant data point to keep in mind might be analyst firm Gartner’s “Hype Cycle,” though. If this graph accurately expresses business sentiment then adoption doesn’t equal satisfaction. Qualitative analyst studies like this are always very controversial, though.
